CAM-GX5 vs WAM-X25: Key Specification Differences at a Glance
JJN Digital products provide detection and location for all kinds of signals and an extraordinary frequency range for portable solutions on the market. More about JJN Digital at the end of this article.
Since we offer a wide range of their products, over the years, when we talk to customers about the specifications of each device, we try to determine which device is most appropriate for each situation. A natural question that keeps coming to us is: when to use CAM-GX5 and WAMX25? Keep in mind that both devices are user-friendly and portable; it depends on your situation and what you need to find.
The CAM-GX5 is a Cellular Activity Monitor. Its job is to detect cellular transmissions 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G signals, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Store&Forward devices, and Video devices. It does this exceptionally well, with an adjustable hinged antenna for identifying cellular devices in the room: phones, GSM bugs, GPS trackers, and covert cameras transmitting over cellular networks.
The WAM-X25 is a Wireless Activity Monitor. It does everything the CAM-GX5 does and more. It's a 0–14 GHz wideband detector that catches signals above the cellular spectrum, such as video transmitters, analogue bugs, proprietary RF devices, and anything else broadcasting in a frequency range that a cellular-only detector would miss.

Who Uses the CAM-GX5 and Why
The CAM-GX5 is helping security personnel sweep law firm meeting rooms before partner discussions. It's being used by HR departments ahead of sensitive conversations. It's in the kit bags of private investigators working corporate fraud cases, and in the carry-ons of executives who travel often or in education, to detect hidden smartphones, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth devices during tests and assessments.
Since it logs up to 4,000 events measuring time, date, band, and signal strength, you get a full picture of every transmission that happened in that room, before and during your meeting. You can easily detect everything in a room because detection goes up to 50 meters, and sweeps are easily done without bringing attention to you.
To make it simpler, the CAM-GX5's strength is its focus. When you know your threat is a hidden 5G camera or a GSM bug, this is the device that finds it fast, without complex operations. You get results and feel safe right away in any environment.
What the WAM-X25 adds when you don’t know what you're looking for
The WAM-X25 covers everything the CAM-GX5 covers and adds more with a wideband detector from 0–14 GHz that catches analogue devices, video transmitters, and RF equipment that exist entirely outside the cellular spectrum and would be invisible to a cellular-only detector.
For example, if you need a Wi-Fi activity detected, but you also want to be provided with detailed data, this is a device for you.
Three specific capabilities separate WAM-X25 in professional sweep work:
Wi-Fi Network Analyser
The WAM-X25 pulls detailed data on every WLAN network in the area: MAC addresses, SSIDs, manufacturers, and access point versus client status. In a sweep, this is the difference between knowing there's a Wi-Fi signal and knowing there's an unknown access point with no registered SSID that wasn't here last week.
Bluetooth Device Analyser
The Bluetooth analyser lists every active Bluetooth device in the environment, with manufacturer data and signal strength. Useful for identifying unknown trackers, covert audio devices, or simply devices that have no business being in the room.
Direction Find Mode
Using the supplied directional antenna and a 360-degree sweep, the WAM-X25 plots signal strength graphically to give you a precise indication of the signal source. This cuts physical search time in an environment like a hotel suite or a large boardroom.
It also logs up to 10,000 events, suitable for a company security team or a professional agency delivering weekly sweeps for clients.
Even though it has a 7" high-resolution TFT screen, the WAMX25 design allows simple and intuitive operation while performing real-time detections. It can work for up to 8 straight hours and has a user-friendly display.
