The Handheld Discovery Mini is a portable Remote ID drone detection system designed to receive and decode compatible Remote ID signals.
The Discovery Mini is designed for professionals looking to monitor drone activity in sensitive areas, public events, critical infrastructure, private properties, and other high-security environments. The system detects drones when they actively broadcast a compatible Remote ID signal, typically through wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
When a compatible Remote ID signal is received, the system can display available information such as the drone identification, serial number, location, altitude, and flight path. This information is presented on an electronic map, allowing users to monitor compatible drones and available pilot location information in real time.
Important: The Discovery Mini is not a universal RF drone detector. It detects aircraft only when they are actively transmitting a compatible Remote ID signal. Older drones, FPV and custom-built drones, modified aircraft, or drones operating without a compatible Remote ID transmission may not be detected.
The system can detect and track multiple compatible drones simultaneously, providing security personnel with real-time situational awareness when several Remote ID-enabled aircraft are operating in the same area.
For critical infrastructure protection, the Discovery Mini can support monitoring around sensitive locations such as power plants, airports, government facilities, and other restricted areas. It can also be used at public events, private properties, industrial facilities, and other locations where unauthorized drone activity may present a security concern.
The Discovery Mini also offers blacklist and whitelist functionality, helping users distinguish known or authorized drones from unknown aircraft and focus on potentially unauthorized activity.
The system can be used independently or integrated into larger security and counter-drone systems, providing a portable solution for Remote ID-based drone monitoring.
Despite its capabilities, the Discovery Mini remains lightweight at only 550 g and highly portable, with a compact handheld design for flexible deployment in the field. The 6-inch capacitive multi-touch screen provides easy operation, while the integrated lithium-ion battery allows up to 4 hours of continuous use. It can also be charged through a mobile power supply such as a power bank.
